Using Codesys to program solutions for CAN using various PC interfaces has never been easier, now that Codesys Control Win SL from 3S-Smart Software Solutions provides support for most PC interfaces such as USB, Ethernet, Bluetooth and PCIe, among others.

In Codesys version 3.5.14.0 (as well as newer versions), this library is included in the installation. In addition, a VCI-V4 driver, which is needed for all Ixxat PC/CAN interfaces. This driver can be downloaded free of charge from the IXXAT website.

This included library makes it almost effortless to access the CAN network using the Control Win SL controller applications. The user can choose which physical interface to use from IXXAT’s comprehensive range of CAN-based hardware solutions such as PCIe interfaces that are in-built into the controller, or external interfaces connected to the controller such as through a USB port or through Ethernet.

These PC/CAN interfaces can also be used with Codesys’ CANopen Master and CANopen Slave applications or with other CAN RAW application on the Codesys Control Win SL controller.
